Tony
Rice
Unit - "Backwaters"
This is a
jazz version of the song from "Sound Of Music". Tony uses chord
progressions that are loosely based upon Johhny Coltrane's version
taken down a whole step to Dm7 for progression I. This is his
first full solo.
About the chord progressions. The great thing about jazz is that
you can make numerous substitutions across the progression. The
progressions I hear are going to be inherently different than what
Tony's band is playing. There are several subsitutions being
played in the rhythm and would take far more time than I have to
decipher each and every chord. Use my progression as a
trip-ticket to your own chord substitutions.
